MATERIALS
PRO DECK specializes in redwood, cedar, pau lope, and composite materials for our projects.

We use wolmanized pine for all of our decking structure.  Joists are normally placed on 16"-24" centers.  Joists range from 2x6 to 2x12 depending on the application.  Support 4x4 or 6x6 posts are located no more than 6' apart depending on joist spacing.  All support posts are placed within or on top of concrete footings.
Decking materials and deck accessory materials are cedar, redwood, pau lope, and composite materials (EVERGRAIN Decking---see link on our link page).  The majority of our arbors are constructed with Western Red Cedar--rough sawn.  We like the contrast in texture between the smooth deck surface and the rough arbor surface.  All four materials are more resistant to insects and decay than most wood products.
We only use electro-galvanized, zinc-plated, ring shank nails for our fasteners for the structure.  Galvanized screws may be used in the place of nails for decking fasteners, upon request.  Stainless steel trim head screws are used to fasten our composite deck tops.  All other hardware, including lag screws, bolts, and joist hangers are galvanized.
